I came to America in 11 of August 2002. I didn't speak any ANY english at all. I had to take american history class (it was the rule from organization.)<br>So I did and at the end of the first semester my teacher made my class read the Jungle. Me including! I was scared already after introduction. The first chapter took me a while. I needed a dictionary every single minute...simply it was horrible, but than I red about the SLOVAKS there and since I saw it I couldn't put the book down... <br>I'm from Slovakia and it was pretty awful to read about those terrible terms for foreigners. Who was hoping for a good job in the democratic country...<br>I was shiveling all of time. I imagined that I'm here in America and I was leaving home full of hope, and wonderful vision of the new world. And I relized that all those feelings which I had, Jurga's family had to have too. I was just scared and glad at the same time, and I was really thankful that I came to America 70 years after.
