I am 15 years old and in my US History class we read portions of this book. It was so interesting and just gruesome enough to get the point across. This book is so enlightening to the apalling conditions that our forefathers were faced with. It showed how the common person had to live. You know, most of the poulation is the common person not the aristocrats. These poor people had no secrity in their lives because of their unfair employers. One day you could be fired for no reason. If you got injured you were just out of work. I think that this is an amazing book and I would highly recommend it. If you feel that your life is tough just a chapter of this book may change your whole perspective on life.
