Being written by a female does not make it a feminist novel. Helen Huntingdon is a character of strength, she left her husband for the sake of her son. She did not advocate women's rights and her only influence on friends was to be careful who you choose to marry. I loved it.I thought that Anne represented the male perspective in a true way (ie gilbert markham)
