Is 'feminist' really the word to be applied to this novel. I believe that writing from the point of view of a woman when you are one far easier than pretending to be male.<br>Secondly Helen Graham was pious and conscientious, she left her husband because he as abusive not to make a point.<br>Thirdly not all women writers are feminists then or now. Howevr Anne Bronte is being radical, facing alcoholism (a modern name) at a time when society was either ignorant of what this caused or refused to own up to it. Bronte writes from the personal experience with her brother and her vivid descriptions make audiences cringe when faced with what huntingdon and his friends are.<br>An insightful read.
