I fell in love with the music first and then had to read thee book so that I could understand the whole musical. I loved the book! It amazed me the amount of depth and realism there was in each character Hugo introduced to us. I read all the parts about Cosette to my 5 year old daughter, who already at that age was in love with the music! Compassion, deception, life, triumph, cruelty, love and hate and many many more emotions were brought to the surface. I was so touched by some of Hugo's words that I placed them in a book of quotes that I keep. It is a must read for everyone!
