I had always known about Les Mis, it seemed. Every musical lover knows it exists, simply because it's so famous. But it wasn't until eighth grade that I really started to notice it. I had been thinking about it, I'm not sure why, when I spotted it in the school library. I checked it out... and wow. I immediately went to the video store and got their copy of the 10th Anniversary Concert. May I say again... wow. I felt so strongly for the characters, and while some of the rants about Waterloo overwhelmed me, the whole book was overwhelming. It was epic. It was the story of the people. It was a tiny part of a tiny group of people in a huge country. Who are Les Miserables? my mom asked when I was done. They're the people. But this book isn't miserable. It's eye opening and inspiring and I am so glad that I found it.
