This book begins March 23, 1865. In the final paragraph of the last chapter it is revealed that the island "during four years had supplied all their [the castaways'] wants. That brings it to 1869. Yet when Captain Nemo shows up, it is stated that it is "sixteen years" after his adventure in "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea," which in Chapter 58 is dated as November 6, 1866 to June 22, 1867. Even Wells' time machine couldn't explain this blunder.
