WHILE it may be considered un-Filipino to openly criticize or deprecate one's country before the eyes of the world, the reality is that the Philippines stubbornly continues to perpetuate Third World features and images when our immediate neighbors have since gone up the ladder of industrialization and globalization, such as Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Hongkong, China, Singapore, and Malaysia - with Thailand and Indonesia struggling to overcome their own current crises and moving forward.
