OSCAR WILDE'S grandson Merlin Holland attended the opening of an exhibition to commemorate the centenary of his grandfather's death entitled The House Beautiful: Oscar Wilde & The Aesthetic Interior at the Geffrye Gallery in Kingsland Road last night.
"Oscar thought the term 'secondhand furniture' perfectly dreadful, but secondhand furniture is what the Geffrye Museum is all about," Holland told me, before informing me his current engagement to edit a new edition of his grandfather's Collected Works, to be published by Little Brown later this year.
