Situated in Greenwich Village, New York, the Oscar Wilde Bookshop - the oldest gay and lesbian bookstore in America - was scheduled for closure at the end of January 2003.

However a reprieve has come in the shape of Deacon Maccubbin, owner of Lambda Rising Bookstores, who has agreed to take over the store's name, location and operations. No financial terms were disclosed.
