H.G. Wells ideas of marriage become evident if his early 20th century novels on marriage are analyzed keeping in mind their chronological sequence. 'Marriage' of 1912 raises questions which are tackled in 'The Passionate Friends' of 1913. The 1914 'The Wife of Sir Isaac Harman' reworks the plots of both the earlier novels. Wells saw himself as a feminist and sought to address questions about wifely silence and a woman's right to her voice in these three novels.
