Shel·ley ¹ / ˈ sh elē / , Mary Wollstonecraft (1797–1851) , English writer; daughter of William Godwin and Mary Wollstonecraft; wife of Percy Bysshe Shelley. She wrote Frankenstein, or the Modern Prometheus (1818). Shel·ley ² , Percy Bysshe (1792–1822) , English poet; husband of Mary Shelley. His poetry includes Queen Mab (1813) and Prometheus Unbound (1820).
