A book that promises to be the definitive book about Anne of Green Gables is due out this spring, in time for the beloved character's 100th birthday.

Looking For Anne: How Lucy Maud Montgomery Dreamed Up a Literary Classic will be published April 1, publisher Key Porter Books has announced.

Author Irene Gammel will explore the real story behind the imaginary Anne, the publisher says.
