FROM reading these two books you might conclude that the only attributes held in common by George Bernard Shaw and Samuel Beckett were nationality and vocation. Before Lois Gordon's book you might have held the belief that both were also hypochondriacal, but she passionately disputes even this in the case of Beckett.
