A theatergoer who has seen all 7 1/2 hours of Milwaukee's 19th annual George Bernard Shaw Festival may have two defensible responses.

One is interest in the thought process and philosophy at work in the mind of an eccentric, intriguing and undeniably brilliant man of letters. The other response could view the entire festival as a well- produced tribute to a playwright's self-indulgence.
