AS YOU might have read the other day, Tarzan of the Apes is going to court. The estate of Edgar Rice Burroughs, Tarzan's creator, has filed a $1 million copyright infringement suit against the publishers of Vogue magazine because of a fashion spread it ran purportedly depicting the lord of the jungle and his mate, Jane.
The lawsuit complains among other things that the photo essay - in which the unauthorized Tarzan and Jane disport themselves in skimpy designer loincloths and such - is "sexually suggestive" and destructive of the "good, wholesome and attractive images" the couple have ...
