It was in December 1906 that Arthur Conan Doyle stumbled across the case of George Edalji of Great Wyrley.

The writer had strong connections with the West Midlands, having begun his medical career in Aston and Erdington, and written his first Sherlock Holmes story while living in Birmingham.

In Great Wyrley Conan Doyle found a case just as challenging as those faced by his fictional detective.
