Dickens's 1843 cautionary tale of Scrooge, the Cratchit family, and the three spirits of Christmas continues to resonate in these dark and greedy times. Rick Lombardo's new interpretation of the classic joins New Rep veterans with members of the Watertown Children's Theatre. "I've created this version specifically to celebrate community and the possibilities of New Rep's new home," he explains. Go early 20 minutes prior to each performance, the cast, decked out in Victorian costumes and standing on the center's grand staircase, sets the tone of the show with a short concert of period carols.
