Chapter Twenty-Nine

Sometime later the two ladies of the house, the elderly Mrs. Maylie, and
her lovely seventeen year old ward, Rose, waited in a handsome, well
furnished room for the arrival of the doctor, Mr. Losberne. Although
Brittles had been sent over an hour before for the doctor, he still had not
returned. Finally the doctor arrived. After paying his respects to the two
ladies, and exchanging a few humorous pleasantries with Giles, he made his
way up to the bedroom. The good doctor remained in the room much longer ...
