BLAME JULIUS CAESAR FOR OUR LEAP YEAR MADNESS

Every four years, sort of like political conventions and your driver's license renewal, we must deal with it -- Leap Year.

Don't get me wrong. I appreciate the extra 86,400 seconds this Sunday. More time to hang up on telemarketers, sit at stoplights or delay the mortgage payment.

But if they must add an extra day to keep the calendar in alignment with the Earth's motion around the sun (I guess that prevents an eventual blizzard in August), why not in April when the forsythia is in bloom or June when playful waves welcome us off the Florida Panhandle?

I'd even settle for October and an extra ...
