HUDSON'S OPENS DOOR TO MEN'S ONLY STORE

SHELBY, N.C. -- W.H. Hudson & Co., Inc., a junior department store based here, has set its sights on men's wear.

Earlier this month, the retailer opened a separate 5,000-square-foot store across the street from its downtown flagship, completely devoted to men's wear.

In the past, Hudson's has concentrated on women's -- a category that has been experiencing an annual growth rate of 12 percent. Larry Greer, divisional merchandise manager for men's and boys' wear and men's store manager, expects initial growth in the new men's store ...
