RACINE -- Samuel Johnson, chairman emeritus of SC Johnson, died of cancer at age 76 on Saturday afternoon.
Johnson, a businessman and philanthropist, is nationally known for his career leading SC Johnson, a Racine-based maker of furniture polishes, waxes and other household cleaning products.
An obituary released by the company said, "Mr. Johnson believed 'business should serve a higher purpose in life' and advocated corporate practices that valued people as much as profits."
