Robert A. Barr, formerly of Waltham and Barrington, N.H., who signed a contract with the Red Sox in 1932, died last Thursday of heart failure at Langdon Place of Dover. He was 94.

Robert A. Barr Jr. compared his father to a baseball book of facts and statistics. "You could throw any ballplayer's name at him and he'd tell you their position, team, whatever - he knew it," he said this week. "He had a hell of a memory."A right-handed pitcher, Mr. Barr began playing semipro baseball in the Cape Cod League in 1927, at age 19.
