The Exeter Amateur Operatic Society will perform the musical The Scarlet Pimpernel at Exeter Northcott tonight.

Baroness Emmuska Orczy's romantic saga of derring-do is set amid the guillotine-ridden French Revolution's Reign of Terror.

It tells the tale of baronet Sir Percival Blakeney and his secret society of 19 English aristocrats who pose as fops while daringly rescuing their French counterparts from the daily executions carried out by the guillotine.
