'Pimpernel' a good mix of comedy, drama

I'd never heard of "The Scarlet Pimpernel" until a friend gave me the Broadway recording. I soon became addicted. When I heard Standing Ovations Theatre was performing it in Orange County, I filled up the gas tank and headed out on Sunday.

"Pimpernel" is based on a book of the same name written by Baroness Emmuska Orczy in 1905. The protagonist, Sir Percy Blakeney (played by Johnathan Gopen), saves people from the guillotine and smuggles them across the English Channel during the French Revolution.
