LUCY MAUD MONTGOMERY 
 
   You are gone, our Island author 
   You have laid your pen aside, 
   You have said good-bye to loved ones 
   You have crossed the swelling tide. 
 
   When the news came o'er the wires 
   It was heard with sad regret, 
   And many a heart was heavy 
   And many an eye was wet. 
 
   You will never be forgotten 
   Though your form no more be seen, 
   But the work you have accomplished 
   Will keep your memory green. 
 
   They have brought you home to sleep 
   In the Isle you loved the best, 
   Where the waves will sing a lullaby 
   And sweet will be ...
