Charles Dickens' influence in American literature is evident in the naturalistic style of poetry. Such influence can be seen in Frank Norris' approach in American fiction especially in his work, 'McTeague.' 'Bleak House', which was written by Dickens himself, presents scenes in a natural and accurate manner. Norris opted for a more gruesome description of important scenes in 'McTeague'. A common element between the two literary works is the emphasis on detail that gives these works more natural interpretations.
