Garbo portrayed some real history

Greta Lovisa Gustaffson retired from the movies in 1941, but I was not too young to appreciate the "Great Garbo" for her single notable association with African-American history.

How well I recall myself as youngster rushing through our town square to a little movie house just to see a rerun of Garbo's celebrated 1936 performance in "Camille" with Robert Taylor, I believe.

But my interest was not in Garbo nor Taylor nor the plot of the movie.

I wanted to see the name of Alexandre Dumas fils, the French novelist who wrote the story from which the movie was made.
