Julius Caesar remains on target for a return clash with Lennon in the $25,000 Coupland's Bakeries New Zealand Sapling Stakes at Ashburton on Saturday week.

Christian Cullen's younger brother led throughout to win a mobile 2000m trial in a slick 2min 31.9sec at Rangiora yesterday.

Julius Caesar, driven by Craig Thornley, was taken on a lap out, but proved too good. The Brian O'Meara-trained juvenile was a comfortable length winner at the line, running his last 800m in 59.5s, and his final 400m in 28.4s.
