Hugh Hackler Taylor, a longtime resident of Salem, died Thursday, January 24, 2008 in a local nursing home. Born in Grayson County to the late Geneva Hackler and Bayard Taylor, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Edith Boyer Taylor; a sister, Fairy Taylor Jones; and two brothers, Phil Taylor and Ray Taylor. Retired from General Electric, he is survived by a son, Richard Cornett and wife, Beverly, Roanoke; two sisters, Lois Taylor Hall, Conover, North Carolina and Wanda T.
